Helpline Volunteers
WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR HELPLINE VOLUNTEERS.
The Information Helpline of Shine was established in August 1997. The Helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm and provides information on a range of issues related to mental ill health. It provides a confidential listening service for anyone who is affected by mental health problems. Trained volunteers and staff provide the service. According to our present volunteers, working on the Information Helpline is an interesting and rewarding experience. The emphasis is on listening and communication skills. It offers you the opportunity to put those skills into practice. At the moment the Information Helpline is located in Dublin, with plans to extend to Cork and Galway. If you have the time (two hours per fortnight) and would like to contribute to our work, please contact: Claire Hawkes, Helpline Coordinator, Shine, 38 Blessington Street, Dublin 7. Tel: 01-8601620.
