Bloomsday Surfers Take To The Waves

Attention: open in a new window. PDF | Print | E-mail

Stand Up Paddle surfing (SUPing) is an emerging global sport with a Hawaiian background. A group of surfers staged an event in the sea off Sandycove in aid of Shine in order to support people with mental health problems.

The event occurred during Bloomsday on June 16th. Bloomsday is a commemoration observed annually in Dublin to celebrate the life of the writer James Joyce and relive the events in his novel Ulysses, all of which took place on the same day in the city in 1904.
